'Final details': Romano claims Nottingham Forest are on verge of absolute 'quality' signing
Nottingham Forest have done superbly in the summer transfer market so far.
And it looks as though the Reds could soon seal another two big deals in the coming days.
Forest have been heavily linked with defenders Neco Williams and Omar Richards recently.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has just shared a fresh update on the City Ground side’s pursuit of Richards.
Writing on Twitter, the transfer insider claims Forest and Bayern Munich are closing in on the deal’s ‘final details’.
“Once details are sorted out, Omar will undergo medicals and sign with Nottingham Forest,” added Romano.
Forest will reportedly pay €10m (around £8.5m) for Richards.
“Attributes which every team in football is looking for”
Richards joined Bayern from Reading last summer.
The former England Under-21 international made 12 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
With Lucas Hernandez back fit and Alphonso Davies available after suffering mild myocarditis, Richards might struggle for game time at Bayern next term.
But it means Forest are getting themselves a superb player.
Former Reading coach Jaap Stam said (via the Bundesliga website): “Omar is a left-back with a lot of quality on the ball, pace and real drive going forward.
“And those are attributes which every team in football is looking for in a player.”
The Bundesliga website also compared Richards’ style of play to that of fellow Bayern full-back Alphonso Davies.
‘It’s clear to see why Bayern have turned to Richards as cover and competition for Davies at left-back,’ they wrote last year.
‘Physically, Richards’ 5’7″ frame quite literally doesn’t stand up to the 6’0″ Davies.
“But Bayern’s latest import does centre his game on relentless work rate, enviable athleticism, pace and dribbling – as does Davies.
‘Like his new teammate, he’s also more than capable of plying his trade further forward as a winger.’
