Defender Filip Benkovic has made just six appearances so far this season in a Celtic shirt, but he’s done enough to earn the trust of boss Brendan Rodgers.
The 21-year-old was eased into the action this campaign by the manager following his switch on loan from Leicester City and has also had to balance injuries too.
But he once again breezed through the game during a 5-0 Bhoys win away at Dundee on Wednesday night and the team look far more solid when he is in the heart of defence.
The dominant centre-back is a brilliant aerial presence that is a man mountain in the box, while his quality to play out from the back lends itself perfectly to Rodgers’ style.
Celtic have conceded just two goals during the six games Benkovic has played for the Scottish giants and he now has to become one of the first names on the team-sheets.
There are a number of different centre-back options at the club, but the Croatian has proven he may be a class above the rest.
He makes defending look a walk in the park with his composure and reading of the game for such a young player, which is why Celtic need to make the most of his loan spell because he looks good enough to make an impact at Leicester already.
