Liverpool target Ferran Torres has been warned off making a move to Anfield by one of his current Valencia teammates.

The winger has been the subject of speculation already heading into the summer. The Express previously claimed Liverpool had received glowing reports about Torres ahead of a potential move.

Torres, who has been in excellent form for Valencia this season, has an apparent release clause in the region of £91m.

However, despite the links to Anfield, his current teammate, Jose Gaya, hopes Torres will stay put.

“I lived (through speculation) and it was clear that I wanted to continue (at Valencia). I am not in Ferran’s head but hopefully, he will continue with us,” Gaya told Movistar.

Gaya was linked with a move to Liverpool himself just las summer. However, the Spaniard opted to stay put and has since gone on to help the Mestalla outfit to within a touching distance of a Champions League place.

Torres, meanwhile, has seen his stock rise throughout the season. Six goals and six assists across all competitions have shown off his talents in attacking areas.

Liverpool cannot continue forever with just Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in the wide attacking areas.

Sooner or later, Klopp is going to have to move for someone else to be the heir to the throne. Torres could well be that man.

A player of clear and obvious talent, Torres has slowly built his reputation in Spain. The £91m release might seem a hefty price to pay. But at just 20-years-old, Liverpool could be getting a first XI talent for the next decade.

If the Reds do want to continue to build and bring home trophies, then targeting players such as Torres is the ideal move for the club.
