Fernando Amorebieta could be perfect Leeds United defensive stop-gap
One area of concern for Leeds United going onto the January transfer window must be the centre-back position. Marcelo Bielsa is short of options at the heart of defence. The recent injury to Liam Cooper has proven this, even if Leeds have thrived since.
Extra cover at the back would be a massive boost for Leeds and one player who appears to be a perfect candidate to join Leeds is Fernando Amorebieta.
The Venezuela international is currently contracted to Argentine side Independiente. However, as reported by Al Aire Libre, the Avellaneda club are preparing to release the 33-year-old.

A cultured left-footed central defender, the experienced defender is also known to Bielsa. The Argentine managed him during his stint at Athletic Bilbao, helping Amorebieta become a much-wanted player throughout Europe.
The defender would, therefore, be trusted by Bielsa to play his style at Elland Road.
Amorebieta, who helped Middlesbrough to the play-off final in 2015, has also played for Fulham in the UK and could surely be convinced to return to the Championship.
Bielsa should certainly consider him a potential option until the end of the season.
