Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that he would not agree with Patrice Evra’s claim on Amazon Prime that he would rather have Tottenham boss Antonio Conte at Manchester United over Erik ten Hag, insisting that ten Hag’s side are on a better trajectory right now.
Evra made the statement ahead of Spurs’ clash at Old Trafford. At the time, Tottenham were level on points with Manchester City. And they had the opportunity to move to within one point of the summit.

However, Wednesday proved to be a miserable evening for Spurs. They were beaten 2-0 thanks to two second-half goals. But the score would have been much, much worse had it not been for the superb performance of Hugo Lloris in goal.
Ferdinand would not take Conte over ten Hag
Lloris made a number of brilliant saves. Meanwhile, Tottenham struggled to lay a glove on the home side, particularly in the second-half.

Evra’s claim was put to Ferdinand after the full-time whistle. And he admitted that he is more excited about what is going on at United rather than at Tottenham.
“You wouldn’t say that right now. Listen, I think Conte’s a great manager. And I think he’s got some great, strong traits that I really admire. A winner, he dictates. He’s massive on discipline. He’s fiery, he’s passionate, he’s a man about detail,” he told his YouTube channel.
“But right now, if you look at the two teams and who’s playing the better football, Spurs at the moment for me, are playing really poor football, especially against the big teams. I watched them against Arsenal at the Emirates, they just camped in their own box for most of the game. They looked dangerous on the counter, that was it. Today, got outplayed for big parts of the game, if not all the game. Didn’t really look like scoring a goal really.
“Powderpuff, they just don’t look like a team that are playing good football or have any confidence at the moment. So at this point in the season, I think the trajectory looks better for ten Hag this season than it does for Conte’s team.”
Tottenham still have big point to prove
Conte definitely has the upper hand when it comes to managerial achievements so far. There was a reason why his appointment was seen as such a pivotal moment for Tottenham.
And that is perhaps one of the reasons why he is not coming under more pressure. Admittedly, the table looked so, so much brighter before Wednesday’s game. They were picking up points.
But the style of play has been underwhelming. However, there is a faith that it will all click at some stage – largely because it is Conte at the helm.
But ten Hag is silencing most of his doubters. And it is no surprise that Ferdinand is more excited about their potential.
