Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Reece James react as Chelsea star shines

Romelu Lukaku enjoyed a dream start to life back at Chelsea as the Champions of Europe defeated Arsenal 2-0. The Belgian striker scored his first goal for the Blues, tapping home Reece James’ cross in the first half. After the game, James, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry all reacted on Instagram.

This was vintage Lukaku. He is known for tormenting central defenders but what he did to Rob Holding and Pablo Mari could give the Arsenal pair nightmares for months. The 28-year-old was sublime and the Gunners had little in reply.

A 30-goal haul last season helped Inter claim their first Serie A title in many years. Another clinical campaign this time around could help Chelsea reclaim their Premier League crown.

Lukaku looks bang in form and Arsenal couldn’t cope with his physical presence. As the game grew on, the Gunners just couldn’t handle the giant frame of the powerful striker. But for a brilliant Bernd Leno save, Lukaku would have added to his tally.

After the game, the physical striker took to Instagram to speak of his pride. He also called the afternoon a dream come true and couldn’t hide his delight at helping the Blues to victory.

What have Terry, Ferdinand and James said about Chelsea star Lukaku?

Chelsea defender James was in fine form for the Blues yesterday. He set up Lukaku’s goal, before scoring the second himself at the Emirates Stadium. This was a stunning performance from the youngster and he summed up Lukaku in one word.

Terry and Ferdinand played together at centre-back for many years. The duo were both brilliant players during their pomp, with Terry winning trophies galore with Chelsea.

He’s recently left Aston Villa. In the coming months, he will try and pursue his own managerial career and it’ll be interesting to see what ideas he has.

Ferdinand is currently a pundit working for a number of organisations. He also recognised Lukaku for his sheer power yesterday, mentioning that he bullied defenders.
