Rio Ferdinand has been speaking about Trent Alexander-Arnold and said the Liverpool man needs to get back to basics.
Trent was once again under the microscope this weekend as he had a couple of errors in the loss at Arsenal to once again bring the critics to the fore. It’s been a nightmare for Alexander-Arnold this season, who seems to be under the spotlight every single week.

And speaking on his FIVE YouTube show, Ferdinand has said that the right-back needs to get the attacking element out of his mind and work on defensive basics.
“In my peak I never really went through a spell where it was a month, or six or eight weeks out of form. But he’s in that rut at the moment where his form’s gone. Confidence isn’t there. With the ball his confidence is still there cos it’s natural but it shows you he’s not a natural defender. He has to think about that, work on it,” Ferdinand said.
“In times of need to get confidence you need to work on your weaknesses to get you through. And I think that’s where, at the moment, he needs someone to speak to him. Forget the attacking element and stats and driving up the pitch. Get your fundamentals right and play yourself back into form.”
TBR’s View: Trent Needs To Keep At It
There’s not a lot else Alexander-Arnold can do other than keep working hard and putting the minutes in.
Ferdinand makes a good point about maybe speaking to someone off the pitch and it might well do Trent the world of good if he does get some extra advice.
Everyone knows Alexander-Arnold is a quality player and if he can get back to it, then it might well coincide with Liverpool improving as well.
