West Ham United put in a fantastic performance this weekend, to pick up a 3-1 win against Manchester United. It was a result that has left Jose Mourinho on the brink and continues West Ham’s resurgent form.
One of the stars of the game was Felipe Anderson.
The Brazilian opened the scoring with a delicious close-range flick. He went on to have a brilliant game, tormenting the fragile Manchester United defence throughout the game.
Anderson was considered a massive coup from West Ham in the summer. The Hammers paid a reported £35 million, rising to £41.5 million, to bring the attacker from Lazio.
However, Anderson was heavily linked with Manchester United for a long time prior to his eventual Hammers switch.
Louis van Gaal was often linked with bringing in the Brazilian during his time at Old Trafford.

However, after Jose Mourinho took over, that interest appeared to dry up. Anderson appeared to try and stir it back up in 2017, telling Sport TV of his United dream, as relayed by The Independent.
“Every player dreams of playing for a team like United. After my season that was very good in the second year, there has always been a lot of speculation.
“If an opportunity shows up, or when I present myself at Lazio, I have to present myself very well.”
But now, he is playing for an entirely different United. He is now looking more like the talent that West Ham had hoped and, at one point, had Old Trafford’s vultures circling.
Fans will hope the Hammers star can continue to highlight why such an illustrious team was linked so heavily with his signature.
