The concerns about Leeds United lasting the pace in the Championship title race are well-worn by now.
The Whites’ propensity to fall away after bright starts, Marcelo Bielsa’s preference for high-tempo football and a small squad, as well as their current injury issues have all combined to contribute to a feeling that the current good times cannot last.
The recent slump in form has only added weight to those fears. You get the feeling some fans will only believe Leeds can last the pace when they finally turn up on Match of the Day.
But those concerns have not hit Leeds as hard as they might have just yet.

That’s because their other title rivals have been unable to take advantage of that recent dip. Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough are the opposite of Leeds in many ways; safety-first, pragmatic with a manager who knows English football very well.
But their 0-0 draw with Rotherham underlines their inability to unlock teams on a regular basis. Meanwhile, Sheffield United have a thin squad, so will struggle to match Leeds stride for stride.
Leeds could well go top of the league once more tonight if they see off Ipswich and results elsewhere go their way. That inconsistency is yet to cost them…
