A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on footage of Son Heung-min in international action, as shared by the Spurs feed.

The Tottenham forward, who captains South Korea, played the full 90 minutes in both of his country’s fixtures this month, friendlies against Mexico and Qatar in Austria.

The Taeguk Warriors fell to a 3-2 defeat against El Tri on Saturday, but rallied round to beat Qatar 2-1 today, with the £140,000-a-week star weighing in with an assist in each game.

Of course, this feels like an irrelevance, given the risk of players suffering injury on international duty, as well as the current global health crisis carrying the risk of footballers falling ill and being ruled out of action.

And with both of South Korea’s games being friendlies, it’s not like there was anything significant at stake, yet Son played maximum minutes for his nation.

The 28-year-old was already subject to a scare last week as he was required to self-isolate in his hotel room while the rest of the squad awaited further test results, though he tested negative.

Therefore, reaction from Spurs fans was a mix of praise at his impressive assist as well as concern for him to get back to England as soon as possible.
