Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has waxed lyrical about Harry Kane after the Spurs talisman passed the 200-goal mark in his club career on Wednesday evening.
Kane came in for some criticism since the return of Premier League football due to a relatively low goalscoring tally by his standards, prompting Mourinho to issue strong defences of his player.
However, the 26-year-old answered his critics against Newcastle United with a brace which took his club career tally to 201, as well as 11 goals in 17 appearances under the Portuguese.

Son Heung-min gave Tottenham the lead on Tyneside in the 27th minute, but Matt Ritchie equalised not long before the hour mark.
Spurs, buoyed by their triumph in the North London derby at the weekend, edged back ahead on 60 minutes through Kane’s milestone header from Steven Bergwijn’s cross.
The 6ft 2in ace then made it 201 club goals – all but 16 of those for Spurs – with another header after Erik Lamela’s effort was parried by the Newcastle keeper, for a 3-1 final score.
“200 goals at this age, with the remaining years that he has in front of him, it’s very normal that he speaks about going for 200 more,” Mourinho told Football London.
“He’s a fantastic player, a top goalscorer, an ambitious guy, young. He has a lot in front of him. So let’s go for 200 more. I believe let’s go for 200 more.”
TBR View:
That Kane recently found himself under intense criticism for being somewhat off form, despite having not long come back from injury and in some cases having to feed off scraps up front, is testament to just how high a bar he has set for himself, for club and for country.
Players like Kane often only get truly recognised for their achievements once they hang up their boots, but given he’s still got plenty of footballing years ahead of him and is now very much in his prime, then another 200 club career goals – and hopefully plenty more for England too – is more than achievable.
