Martin Odegaard spoke to Viaplay Fotball after the North London Derby yesterday and was blown away by Arsenal teammate Granit Xhaka’s performance.
The Gunners secured a massive win over their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
Mikel Arteta’s men ran out 3-1 winners after goals from Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Xhaka. The win means Arsenal remain at the top of the Premier League and Odegaard has heaped praise on to Xhaka after a ‘fantastic’ display.

Odegaard blown away by Xhaka
Speaking to Viaplay Fotball after the game, Odegaard was asked about Xhaka’s incredible run of form this season.
He said: “Incredibly happy for him. As everyone knows, he’s had some tough moments here. It’s been a journey for him, he’s been through a lot.
“He’s worked hard through it all, focused on improving – steadily becoming better and better, winning the trust back.
“You see in the ovation he gets at the end of the game here. He played a fantastic match and scored. I’m very happy for him and he’s important for us.”

Xhaka put in another commanding display from central midfield and has enjoyed a real turnaround in fortunes at Arsenal under Arteta.
The 30-year-old’s Arsenal career looked to be in doubt after an outburst towards the Gunners faithful back in 2019.
The Swiss international was even stripped of the captaincy but he is now arguably playing the best football of his career under Arteta. And he’s put in some eye-catching displays this season.
The Gunners man is certainly benefitting from playing alongside Partey in central midfield, with the Ghanaian allowing him to push further up the pitch.
Xhaka has now registered two goals and three assists in just eight Premier League appearances after his goal yesterday. Arteta will be hoping Xhaka can continue his form over the next month during a busy schedule before the World Cup in Qatar.
