Fans will forgive Emery for awful transfer if he signs French maestro this summer

Arsenal manager Unai Emery’s loan deal for Denis Suarez will surely be forgiven and forgotten if he can sign Adrien Rabiot this summer.

Spaniard Suarez joined the Gunners on loan from Barcelona in January, but never started a single game for the club as he struggled with a pesky groin problem.

Last month the midfielder revealed that he would be out for the remainder of the season, meaning he has only made six substitute appearances in total, making him one of the worst-ever Arsenal signings.

Arsenal are believed to have an option to purchase Suarez for £20 million, but that is highly unlikely to happen.

It cost the club £2.17 million to loan Suarez in (via The Evening Standard), but his move has been a total disaster – but if Emery can sign Rabiot for nothing this summer, all will surely be forgiven.

TBR’s view

The 24-year-old will leave the Parc des Princes this summer when his contract expires, and a number of clubs such as Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been linked with his signature.

He is highly coveted as he is a brilliant, technically gifted player.

So Arsenal winning the race for him would be a major coup, and it would help to banish the memories of the Suarez deal. L’Equipe are claiming Arsenal are ‘getting closer’ to signing the Frenchman.

Former PSG boss Emery obviously knows Rabiot well and had a good working relationship with him before he left and things turned sour.

Rabiot’s contractual situation has seen him become frozen out, and he hasn’t played for the first-team in 2019.
