A number of Blackpool fans have lauded Arsenal loanee Daniel Ballard on Twitter after the Gunners youngster produced another impressive display for the League One side on Saturday.

Neil Critchley’s men secured a huge win in their bid to make the play-offs at the weekend. They beat fellow promotion-chasers Sunderland 1-0 at Bloomfield Road.

It could have been a different story from the home side had Ballard not produced an outstanding clearance off the line in the final 20 minutes.

The defender managed to get himself between the ball and the goal after Chris Maxwell had failed to hold on, dropping it at the feet of Luke O’Nien.

As shown by Whoscored, Ballard won seven aerial duels. He also made seven clearances – no player on either side managed more during the contest.

Blackpool find themselves in a fantastic position to push for a spot in next season’s Championship. And if they get there, it appears that plenty of their supporters want Ballard back as part of their squad.

Several responded to the Arsenal youngster’s latest tweet, with many insisting that he was the man of the match.

Some have implored their club to try and sign him permanently.

It was always going to be a big ask for Ballard to catch Arsenal’s eye while away. Mikel Arteta already has a large group of centre-backs to pick from.

But perhaps his form in the last few months will leave Arteta thinking that he is one player he would like to have a little look at upon his return from his loan.

With that in mind, here is how some of the Blackpool fans reacted to his latest tweet…
