Declan Rice made his first England start in Monday’s 5-1 thrashing of Montenegro, continuing his rapid progression this season.
The holding midfielder has been hugely impressive for West Ham this season and his first international experience is no more than he deserves after a breakthrough campaign.
He kept the ball ticking over impressively and did not lose composure even when England fell 1-0 behind, which was a tricky start to his maiden Three Lions start.
In the aftermath, Rice tweeted two photos of him with England captain and Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

The first was from 2014, when he had to ask Kane for a photo as a fan and the second was from Monday’s dressing room, having been captained by him for England.
West Ham fans love Rice and were full of praise for his tweet about Kane. They are loving see him progress this season and that should continue into the summer when England will take part in the semi-finals of the Nations League, which they have a real chance of winning.
We’ve put together some of the best reaction to the tweet from Hammers supporters…
