Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell may have lost his place as number one at Elland Road. But he remains the number one stopper for Northern Ireland and has been in action this week.
Northern Ireland claimed their fourth win from as many games in European Championship qualifying yesterday by defeating Belarus 1-0. This came after a 2-1 win against Estonia in which Peacock-Farrell received some stick.
The Leeds stopper should have done better with Konstantin Vassiljev’s free-kick in the 25th minute.

But he did not let that get to him. ‘BPF’ also made a great save late in that game. Against Belarus, it was a similar story. Peacock-Farrell put in an assured performance for his nation. That included making one excellent stop from Igor Stasevich.
It was a tumultuous season for Peacock-Farrell. He started the campaign as Leeds United’s number one. However, he put in some inconsistent displays and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa decided to make a change in January.
Kiko Casilla came in from Real Madrid and it would be hard to suggest he has fared any better.
This week, Peacock-Farrell told the Belfast Telegraph how he will ‘consider his options’ if he is set for a season on the bench at Elland Road.
Fans who watched Peacock-Farrell in action yesterday had mixed reviews on his performance. However, plenty were impressed by his display and can probably understand just why he craves first-team football.
