Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney was in action on Thursday night for Scotland – and some fans on Twitter were left raving about the player’s international display.
Scotland earned a hard-fought point against Austria after coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 in a World Cup qualifier.
Sasa Kalajdzic scored twice in the second half for visitors Austria, but the hosts equalised through Granit Hanley first, followed by a magical overhead kick from Aston Villa’s John McGinn late on to secure the draw.
Tierney, who plays as the left-sided centre-back in a back three for Scotland, lined up in Steve Clarke’s XI.
The 23-year-old Gunners star is such a key player at club level at the Emirates Stadium, something which is very much the case when he plays for his country as well.
His preferred left-back position is taken though in the Scotland squad by Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, but he shows great versatility filling a different role with his excellent attitude.

A selection of international supporters on social media believe that Tierney was a standout with his individual display.
It must be frustrating that arguably the nation’s two biggest high-profile stars are both recognised left-backs, which leaves the manager with the issue of trying to shoehorn them into the same XI.
