Fans react on Twitter to West Ham’s Declan Rice’s display for England

A number of England supporters took to Twitter to comment on Declan Rice’s performance in the win over Kosovo on Tuesday – and it appears that the West Ham star’s display has divided the fans.

Gareth Southgate’s men secured another win. But it was far from a perfect defensive display from England, with mistakes gifting the visitors three goals.

Rice made an error for their second with a poor pass. And some clearly feel that it was an error that highlights that the Hammers man is not ready for a regular spot in the England side.

However, there was also a lot of impressive moments from the Irons youngster. It was his brilliant challenge that set Raheem Sterling on his way for the lightning counter that allowed Jadon Sancho to score England’s third goal.

Unsurprisingly, the large majority of West Ham fans were full of praise for Rice’s display. But, perhaps also unsurprisingly, fans of other clubs have had differing opinions of his performance.

One Tottenham fan lauded the midfielder and insisted that he is a future England captain, and a Chelsea supporter suggested that he wants the Blues to re-sign Rice having let him go when he was in the academy.

But others were much less impressed, with some claiming that Rice is overrated. It is an incredibly harsh assessment of another bright performance. And it would be no surprise if many did not agree with those slating the 20-year-old.
