A number of fans have taken to Twitter to comment on James Olayinka after the Arsenal loanee scored a superb winning goal at the weekend.

Southend remain bottom of League Two. But the 20-year-old handed their survival hopes a big boost on Saturday.

He scored his first league goal of the campaign with 10 minutes remaining against Scunthorpe. The ball was played into him on the edge of the box. And despite the pass bobbling about, the youngster managed to curl a lovely effort into the corner of the net.

As shown by Whoscored.com, Olayinka was influential throughout the contest. He made three successful dribbles – no player on the pitch could equal that tally.

Meanwhile, he also won a couple of aerial duels and one tackle. And despite being dispossessed four times, it appears that plenty of supporters believe that he is going to play a crucial role if they are going to get themselves out of trouble.

Several took to social media to laud the strike. But there were also plenty of messages heaping praise on the Gunners loanee.

Some have tipped the versatile midfielder for an extremely bright future. And those Southend fans commenting on the goal are imploring their club to do all they can to keep Olayinka beyond the January transfer window.
