Fans of Premier League side impressed by Ben White's display for Leeds
Ben White made his debut for Leeds United on Sunday after joining the Championship promotion hopefuls on loan from Premier League side Brighton – and many Seagulls fans reacted on Twitter to his display.
White, 21, stepped in to the Leeds defence in place of former fan favourite Pontus Jansson as the Whites travelled south to take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Indeed, White shone at the back.
Marcelo Bielsa opted to sign White because of his ball-playing ability, which has been evident throughout pre-season. Despite the step in class after playing in League One on loan at Peterborough last term, White starred.
His passing qualities were more than evident. Long range or on the deck ahead of him, White found players in space and not only looked to pass ahead – but to players who had options upon receiving the ball.
Aside from his passing and possession-based stats, White made a crucial number of interceptions including one in the second half which prevented a possible goal. Leeds went on to win 3-1, which sees them sit at the top of the table.
Brighton fans reacted on Twitter to White’s performance, with some delighted that he was earning so much praise while others actually watched the match and applauded their loan star for impressing on his debut.

Ben White will have tougher days at the heart of the Leeds United defence this season, but this was a good start to the season from Lewis Dunk’s future England international centre back partner #bhafc #lufc https://t.co/IBsf8aG4FR

Tony Bloom said the new academy would take time to bare fruit. Can’t help but think we’re not that far away from it now. A glut of talent on loan in the @SkyBetChamp. High hopes for Ben White after his debut today for Leeds – going to be some player. #BHAFC
