Marcelo Bielsa’s contract at Leeds United is an intriguing one. While the Argentine will not see it as an issue, speculation continues to surface with the deal unsigned. Leeds fans will know it is just the way he works, and Fabrizio Romano has now stated when he expects Bielsa to sign.
Bielsa, 65, remains out of contract at Leeds at the end of the month. To fans of other Premier League clubs – especially fans of clubs that need a manager – he is a possible target. But if you know the way in which Bielsa works, then you know there is no chance of the Argentine leaving Elland Road.
Angus Kinnear said that his contract situation was a formality and a new deal had not been signed because Bielsa sees it as an irrelevance. The gaffer has spoken of how he could even end his managerial career at Elland Road. Now, Romano has stated he expects a signature in the “next few days”.

“Marcelo Bielsa is going to sign the contract in the next few days,” Italian journalist Romano said earlier this week, on his Here We Go podcast. “He’s staying at Leeds, and if we won’t have any big surprises, Bielsa is staying.”
Leeds fans will be delighted to see the end of unfounded speculation about Bielsa, after Romano claim
While Leeds fans understand it is the way in which Bielsa works – signing a new deal every 12 months – fans will have grown frustrated of pundits suggesting Bielsa for other jobs. The likes of Jamie O’Hara, Tim Sherwood and even Bobby Zamora have recently suggested Bielsa for Tottenham.
It will have annoyed Leeds fans to see him suggested as an option for other clubs. Now, Bielsa looks as though he will finally sign a new contract – and end any doubts about his future.
