It is no secret that Manchester United are interested in signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.

The Red Devils have had an impressive summer transfer window already. They have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

All three players improve Ruben Amorim’s side significantly, but the Manchester United boss needs more help in the coming weeks.

Baleba is the top target in midfield for Amorim, and Fabrizio Romano has an update.

Manchester United to hold direct talks with Carlos Baleba ‘this week’

Carlos Baleba has caught every big club’s eye in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old only joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2023, but his performances at the Amex have impressed everybody.

Manchester United have been in constant talks with Baleba’s agents over the last few weeks and have made their interest clear.

Now, after speaking to the player’s camp again on Tuesday, Romano says he expects Manchester United to talk to Brighton directly to see if a deal can be struck or not.

The journalist said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Contacts continue for Carlos Baleba. Today, Man United spoke again to the agents of the player.

“They are prepared to try to understand how much Brighton want. So this week, I expect Manchester United to try to understand the situation directly with Brighton, and let’s see what’s going to happen there. But Baleba remains a topic at United.

“They are still not moving on another midfielder, and it means that Manchester United maintain the contacts active for Baleba and also try to understand if they can really make it happen or if it’s going to be impossible because Brighton still have no intention to reduce their price tag.”

TBR Football revealed that Brighton will demand in excess of £100 million for Baleba if clubs like Manchester United come in for him this summer.

It’s now or never for Manchester United in the Carlos Baleba race

Signing Baleba will take Manchester United to the next level.

Not only is the Cameroon international an upgrade in midfield, but the fact that he is still only 21 means he will get even better in the coming years.

That is why Manchester United are keen to sign him, but we feel it’s now or never for the Red Devils.

That’s because if Baleba stays and has another great year at Brighton, it won’t be a surprise to see several other big clubs join the race for his signature – both in the Premier League and abroad.

Manchester United have no real competition now, so we think they should go all out to get him. If they don’t, their dream of signing him could be over.
