Liverpool have hit the ground running in the Premier League this season, winning all three of their games so far.
The Reds have scored seven goals and conceded none. Better still, they handed bitter rivals Manchester United a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
In terms of transfer activity, Liverpool weren’t particularly busy in the summer, though they did make two signings late on in the window.
Giorgi Mamardashvili has signed for the Reds, though he will continue to ply his trade on loan at Valencia until next summer.
Liverpool also snapped up one of Italy’s stars from Euro 2020, landing Federico Chiesa from Juventus in a deal reportedly worth £12.5million in total.
Fabrizio Romano has now given his verdict on the Reds’ summer business, admitting that he expected something from the Anfield outfit that didn’t happen.

Fabrizio Romano says a midfielder would’ve made Liverpool’s window ‘amazing’
Romano, writing on CaughtOffside, said he expected Liverpool to make one more signing on top of the ones they did make.
The transfer insider also called Chiesa’s signing a “smart and very good piece of business” and described Mamardashvili as a “top goalkeeper for the future”.
Romano concluded that, had Liverpool signed another midfielder, it would’ve been an “amazing” window for them.
“I think Liverpool had a positive window overall, but I was expecting at least one more signing,” Romano said.
“With (Martin) Zubimendi, if they had been able to get that deal done, it would have been a fantastic window.
“Chiesa is a smart and very good piece of business, while I also think Mamardashvili is a top, top goalkeeper for the future.
“My feeling is that with one more midfielder coming in, it would have gone down as an amazing window for the Reds.”
Liverpool could try again for Zubimendi
Zubimendi was strongly linked to Liverpool this summer, but, ultimately, he decided to stay put at Real Sociedad.
However, speaking on Men in Blazers before the window shut, Romano claimed that Zubimendi could be an option for Liverpool again in January.
“I would be surprised if they can find a number six at the level of Zubimendi in the final two or three days,” he said.
“They prefer to wait and try again for Zubimendi or another player in that position at another moment of the market.
“Maybe in January, maybe next summer, but now, the focus is on other positions.”
