Fabrizio Romano shares update on Mikel Arteta contract as Arsenal table club-record deal

Mikel Arteta’s contract at Arsenal is currently set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season.

The Spaniard has now spent five years in charge of the North London side having been appointed manager back in 2019.

Mikel Arteta survived a rocky patch as Arsenal boss in December 2020 with the Gunners failing to win a league game in almost two months. The club chiefs at The Emirates backed him to turn things around and he has rewarded their faith by transforming Arsenal into regular title challengers.

Arteta’s side have fallen just short of the Premier League title twice in successive years but they look well-equipped to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City again this season.

However, what Arsenal won’t want is a contract saga with their manager rumbling on in the background of their title race.

Fabrizio Romano update on Mikel Arteta talks

Arteta gave a positive update on his contract talks in July, saying “There is no update at the moment. The thing that hasn’t changed is how happy I am and how valued I feel here and how much I love representing this club,”

Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest news on his contract talks, and it will put a smile on the faces of Arsenal fans.

“There have been some headlines again about Mikel Arteta and a new contract. I’m still on the same position that I mentioned in June, which is that I fully expect Arteta to sign a new deal at Arsenal,” Romano said via CaughtOffside.

“My info in June was clear, he wants to stay and Arsenal are super happy with him. The plan is absolutely to continue together with a new deal.”

Arsenal to offer club-record deal to Mikel Arteta

All the noises around Arteta and his contract are positive for Arsenal, and it only seems a matter of time until he extends his stay in London.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are ready to offer Arteta a bumper extension which will make him the highest-paid manager in the club’s history.

They add that the club is confident that terms will be agreed for Arteta to extend his stay as Arsenal manager.
