Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has enjoyed a brilliant maiden season at Old Trafford so far.

The 18-year-old has become a fixture in the Red Devils starting XI this season after making his first Premier League start in November.

And earlier this month, Mainoo scored his first Premier League goal, a superb solo effort late on against Wolves to hand Manchester United a dramatic 4-3 win.

Over the past few days, reports have emerged claiming Mainoo is in line for an improved contract at Manchester United following his breakthrough.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update involving the Red Devils prodigy and his contract situation. And it’s good news for Manchester United fans.

Kobbie Mainoo set to be ‘crucial part’ of Manchester United project

The transfer insider has taken to X claim that, to the best of his knowledge, the Red Devils have already prepared a new contract proposal for Mainoo.

Romano also claimed that initial discussions have already taken place with his camp to advance in talks over a new deal.

Man United want Mainoo to be a crucial part of their project, with a salary rise also included in the renewal, added the Italian.

Mainoo signed his first professional contract at Manchester United shortly after his 17th birthday in May 2022, and was handed a new deal a year ago, as per the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, The Sun has reported that the Red Devils gem has already doubled his salary to £20,000-a-week this season by reaching ten senior appearances.

It’s always great to see an academy talent make the breakthrough at a huge club like Manchester United, and even better to hear that discussions are taking place over securing his future at Old Trafford.

Mainoo is a player of the highest calibre with an incredible future ahead of him, and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop for club and for country.
