Leicester City appear to be edging closer to the signing of Stefano Sensi from Inter Milan.
The Foxes have been working on the signing of the 28-year-old as a replacement for Cesare Casadei, who has returned to Chelsea.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to X with an update which suggests Leicester are on the verge of striking a deal for Sensi.
The transfer insider has reported that Leicester boss Enzo Maresca only wants Stefano Sensi, who is on the brink of joining the Foxes.
Romano also claimed that Inter will receive a fee in the region of €2million (around £1.3million) as soon as Leicester complete their final proposal.
And it gets better for the Foxes, Sensi has already agreed personal terms with Leicester and really wants to move to the King Power, added Romano.
Leicester closing in on ‘strong, technical, fast’ midfielder Stefano Sensi
There have certainly been some exciting developments on this front in the last 24 hours or so.
If all goes well, Leicester will be landing an outstanding midfielder to bolster their ranks in pursuit of an immediate return to the Premier League.
Sensi has enjoyed a superb career in Italian football over the years, registering 56 appearances for Inter and 68 for Sassuolo, as well as winning nine caps for the Azzurri.
He earned praise from Roberto Mancini in 2015, the Italian coach telling Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter): “He’s strong, technical, fast and also has personality.”
It looks as though there could be further developments in the coming hours. Romano hasn’t declared “here we go” yet, but it feels like it shouldn’t be too long now.
Leicester can be pleased with their transfer business this season, not to mention how well they’ve been doing on the pitch.
The Foxes are currently 10 points clear of third place in the Championship table and will fancy their chances of returning to the top flight at the first attempt.
On Monday night, Leicester can take a huge step towards the title as they welcome second-placed Ipswich Town at the King Power.
Victory for the Foxes in the 8pm kick-off would put them 10 points clear of their nearest challengers.
