Aston Villa have had a brilliant week, reaching their first European final since 1982 and giving their Premier League top-four hopes a big boost.
At the weekend, Unai Emery’s Villans ran out 2-0 winners at Arsenal. Combined with Tottenham’s heavy loss at Newcastle, it put Villa three points clear of fifth-placed Spurs.
Then, on Thursday night, Villa took Lille all the way to penalties in the Europa Conference League before triumphing in the shoot-out to reach the final four.
Emery has done a truly wonderful job since taking the reins at Villa Park. As we know, this can sometimes prove a double-edged sword as other clubs start to take notice.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now dropped a positive update on that front in wake of a superb seven days for the Villans.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Aston Villa and Unai Emery?
Romano, writing on GiveMeSport, says Emery is “very happy” at Villa, with the entire hierarchy working in unison to ensure progress and success.
And while Romano couldn’t guarantee what may happen in the summer, he stressed that Emery will not entertain any offers while the season is ongoing.
“Emery is very happy where he is,” wrote Romano.
“Villa are doing something special together with Emery, but the entire board, including Monchi and Damia Vidagany, are working together for the big targets. So they’re very, very happy together.
“Emery would never negotiate any other job now, so I think the full focus is obviously on doing something, especially in Europe and the Premier League with Aston Villa.
“Then we will see if another club arrives.”

Emery has worked wonders at Villa, and the club is very much in a position of ongoing progress and development which is already reaping rewards.
The Villans will fancy their chances of seeing off Tottenham in pursuit of a Champions League spot, as well as of going all the way in the Europa Conference League.
Villa’s recruitment has also been great in recent years, with some big names coming to the club, and this will only snowball if the Villans reach the Champions League, or even the Europa League.
With all that in mind, you’d think Emery wouldn’t just jump ship now, not when there’s so much progress to be made at one of England’s most historic clubs.
