Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ajax’s Stanis Idumbo Muzambo in recent weeks.
However, it looks as though Spurs will be missing out on the midfielder, as per Fabrizio Romano’s latest update.
In December, Belgian outlet DH claimed that the ‘most concrete avenue’ for Idumbo Muzambo would lead to Tottenham.
The north Londoners apparently offered the 18-year-old a ‘project of four years’ for him to mull over.
However, according to Romano, Spurs are set to miss out on Idumbo Muzambo to La Liga outfit Sevilla.
The transfer insider took to X on Friday to claim that an agreement is “being closed” on a permanent deal, although there are a few details to sort out.
Idumbo Muzambo will then travel to Seville to finalise his move to the seven-time Europa League winners, added Romano.
Spurs linked with ‘very interesting’ midfield gem Stanis Idumbo Muzambo
It’s a shame that Tottenham have missed out on Idumbo Muzambo. Spurs apparently had big plans for the player.
The DH report claims that Tottenham were going to place the Belgian youth international in the first-team for the rest of the campaign.
That suggests Ange Postecoglou saw him as a potential future first-teamer, though by the sounds of it, he may not have got many minutes to begin with.
Perhaps Sevilla were willing to give Idumbo Muzambo competitive game time right away. If that was the case, then it might’ve been the best thing for his development.

Tottenham have done very well in terms of signing top prospects in recent years, with the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie becoming established first-teamers after joining for the future.
And Idumbo-Muzambo is highly rated in the Netherlands. Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig deeming him one of several in a “very interesting generation of Ajax Under-18s” earlier this year.
Since then, the player has gone up to the Under-21s and he continues to look a cut above. Now, a big career move awaits. Sadly for Spurs, it’s not with them (at least not yet).
