Newcastle United are currently working behind the scenes to complete an important in-house deal.
It has been a solid start to the 2024/25 campaign for Eddie Howe‘s side with their first defeat of the season coming on the weekend against Fulham.
The Toon sit up in sixth place of the Premier League table with 10 points to their name following the opening five games of the season.
However, it was not the most straightforward of summer’s at Newcastle with the Magpies under considerable pressure off the pitch in the transfer market.
And it seems as if some of the issues which the Toon may have experienced over the summer has seeped into the new season.
But there is working going on behind the scenes to find a resolution to the issues before Newcastle face any further issues down the line.

Newcastle are planning in-house contract talks with Anthony Gordon
Over the summer, Newcastle were faced with the prospect of selling some of their top players to balance the books.
The Toon were up against it in the final days for June as they needed to hit the PSR deadline by selling some of their players.
Anthony Gordon was a player of interest to the likes of Liverpool who are believed to still hold an interest in the England winger.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are now planning their contract talks with Gordon as they aim to tie him down to a new deal.
“Newcastle already started planning for Anthony Gordon’s new deal in June, when they turned down various approaches for him,” he said in his Daily Briefing.
“It’s not something imminent and not something happening today but it is something that the Magpies plan to do in the future as the player is considered an important part of their project.”
Anthony Gordon is taking time to hit the heights set last season
Over the 2023/24 campaign, Gordon showed himself to be one of the best wingers in the Premier League as he provided Newcastle with a return of 11 goals and 10 assists.
However, in the opening five games of this season, the England international has only been able to provide a single goal with no assists.
Journalist Craig Hope thinks he has seen a change in Gordon’s body language this season which may be of real concern on Tyneisde.
With a decision seemingly coming up on a potential new contract, there may well be some questions needing to be answered by the 23-year-old.
