Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that an Arsenal player rejected three offers from other clubs in order to stay at the Emirates.

The Gunners have built a side that everybody wants to be a part of. They are currently on top of the Premier League table and are through to the quarter-final of the Champions League as well.

Mikel Arteta is slowly but surely bringing Arsenal back to the top again, and everybody knows the future is really bright. Jack Wilshere is convinced he will win the league title soon.

That’s probably why everyone at Arsenal wants to stay at the club for as long as they can.

Fabrizio Romano says player rejected three offers to leave Arsenal

Arsenal have a solid squad right now and their academy is producing some incredible players as well.

Bukayo Saka is a fantastic example. If Arsenal had to sign a player like him, they would have to break their transfer record, but thankfully, he cost them nothing having come through the academy.

Many other young players at Hale End will be hoping to follow in Saka’s footsteps in the coming years, and a few of them have already become household names.

One such young player is Ethan Nwaneri, who broke the record last season to become the youngest player ever to make an appearance in the Premier League.

The teenager signed his first professional contract at the club this week, and reports have already revealed that Manchester City were keen to sign him.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Nwaneri actually rejected three different clubs to stay at Arsenal.

The journalist tweeted: “Ethan Nwaneri has turned down three important proposals to stay at Arsenal and sign his first pro deal.

“Arsenal completed perfect move as it was key for the club to keep their gem.”

Per Mertesacker’s comments on Ethan Nwaneri are very interesting

Arsenal were often criticised for messing up players’ contracts. Some of their decisions in the past either forced them to sell their stars or pay over the top just to keep hold of them.

That is no longer the case at the Emirates. Arsenal have been brilliant at securing the futures of their players – not just the ones in the first team but also the youngsters in the academy.

Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta get a lot of praise for this, but Per Mertesacker, who is the head of the academy, deserves credit too. The German played a big part in convincing Nwaneri to stay, and his comments about the teenager’s qualities will excite every Arsenal fan.

Mertesacker told Arsenal.com: “Ethan has a strong ability to master the ball, dominate possession and is really effective in the final third, which fits into our playing style at Arsenal Football Club.

“He is someone that will thrive on and off the pitch as a Strong Young Gunner and we look forward to working with him during his ongoing development in the years to come.”
