Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of exciting attacking players this summer.
Eberechi Eze and Pedro Neto are both said to be Spurs targets, while perhaps the most exciting link has been to Rennes’ Desire Doue.
Doue is seen as one of the next biggest talents in French football, and he’s a wanted man across Europe.
Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Doue, and, unfortunately, it doesn’t sound as though the winger’s destiny is to end up at Tottenham.
According to Romano, there’s a big fight ongoing between Bayern Munich and PSG to sign Doue, with both clubs now simply waiting for the player to make a decision.
PSG and Bayern waiting on Desire Doue decision
Romano shared what he knows about Doue.
“We said about Osimhen and we say about Desire Doue, it is a big fight. Bayern and PSG are for Desire Doue, they are waiting for the player to decide which club he wants to join,” Romano said.
Don’t discount Tottenham
Romano may mention both Bayern and PSG in this update, but Tottenham shouldn’t be discounted just yet.
Indeed, Spurs’ interest is well-reported, and according to Dean Jones earlier this week, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Tottenham do feel as though they have an edge in the race to sign Desire Doue.
“He’s set to decide between Bayern Munich and PSG if he leaves say Sky Germany. Tottenham have had interest too and they feel they can offer him a quicker pathway into the first-team and hopefully that could give them an edge,” Jones said.
Factor in that Tottenham have recently beat the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the respective signings of Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall, it’s not implausible that Spurs could still have a say in the race to sign Doue in this window.
