Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful transfer deadline day so far.

At one point on Monday morning, it looked like there would be no incomings to help Thomas Frank’s side, but that changed quickly.

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG, and he makes Spurs’ attack so much stronger.

Frank wanted another player through the door as well, but that move will not be happening now.

Manuel Akanji is about to sign for Inter Milan after Tottenham talks

Tottenham have needed reinforcements in defence all summer.

Kota Takai has been brought in from Japan, but he is currently injured. Even if he were fit, it’s unclear how ready he is to play in the Premier League.

That is why other options were explored, and TBR Football confirmed that Tottenham had held talks to sign Manuel Akanji from Manchester City.

The Swiss international would’ve been a great option for Spurs because of his quality, versatility and winning mentality, but there’s some bad news on that front.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Akanji is on his way to Inter Milan now.

He tweeted: “Inter agree deal with Man City to sign Manuel Akanji, here we go!

“€2 million (£1.7m) loan fee, €15 million (£13m) buy option clause to become mandatory only under difficult conditions. Akanji set for medical now, as he agreed to the move.”

Tottenham are running out of time

At the time of writing, there’s less than 90 minutes left before the summer transfer window shuts.

Tottenham started the day with the hope of signing one player in attack and another in defence, and Kolo Muani checks the first box.

However, Spurs are running out of time in their search for a new defender after they’ve missed out on signing Akanji from Manchester City.

It remains to be seen now if Daniel Levy can work his magic late in the window to give Frank his wish.
