Fabrizio Romano says player has just passed Arsenal medical, done deal
Arsenal look set to announce a transfer deadline day signing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Takehiro Tomiyasu has passed his medical with the Gunners.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported at 10:11am BST that the Gunners were working on a deal for the Bologna ace.
Things moved quickly and, at 12:54pm BST, Romano claimed that all paperwork has been completed between the relevant parties.
Now, the esteemed journalist has taken to Twitter to say Tomiyasu has successfully completed his Arsenal medical.
In addition, the north Londoners are reportedly set to pay “less than €20million” (around £17million) for his services.
The Gunners appear to have beaten north London rivals Spurs to the 22-year-old’s signature as he was linked with them too.
Everton were apparently also eyeing Tomiyasu earlier this year.
Arsenal set to sign Tomiyasu – the story so far
Tomiyasu has plied his trade for Bologna since 2019, when he joined from Belgium’s Sint-Truiden for a reported £6.3million.
Prior to joining Sint-Truiden, he came through the ranks at Japanese club Avispa Fukuoka.
He has made 64 appearances for Bologna, registering three goals and three assists.
In addition, Tomiyasu has won 23 senior caps for Japan, scoring once, and competed at the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
