Liverpool could not have asked for much of a better start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
The only blip on Arne Slot‘s record as the new Liverpool manager came in their defeat at home against Nottingham Forest.
However, the Reds have gone into the latest international break sitting at the top of the league with 18 points taken from a possible 21.
But there are some concerns surrounding the long-term future of some of the players on Merseyside with some major contract decisions needing to be made.
Of course, the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract is of huge concern to those at Liverpool but he is not the only one.

Alexander-Arnold is also joined by Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in entering the final months of their deals on Merseyside.
This is a situation which the Reds will be keen to avoid in the future given they could be set to lose three of their best players for free.
Fortunately, there may be some positive news to come out of Anfield when it comes to player contracts.

Speaking in his Daily Briefing, Fabrizio Romano has claimed Liverpool are now in talks with Ibrahima Konate to secure him down to a new deal.
“Elsewhere, there are positive updates as Jarell Quansah has signed a new contract, and negotiations have also started with Ibrahima Konate,” he said.
“He’s happy at Liverpool and Arne Slot is happy with him, so it’s looking positive, and Liverpool are prepared to offer him an important contract with an improved salary, which is obviously something Konate will look on in a positive way.
“Under new director Richard Hughes, Liverpool are determined to avoid situations like the contracts of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold happening again – important players have to sort out their contracts as soon as possible, so this is what will happen with Konate, following the deal being done for Quansah.”
Liverpool must tie down Ibrahima Konate
With the Reds at risk of losing a player of Van Dijk’s importance next summer, it is of huge importance that Slot locks down Konate to a new deal.
Losing Van Dijk would be a huge blow for Liverpool but potentially losing Konate next summer for free would be another sucker punch.
Konate has been hailed as ‘outstanding‘ and has established himself as a regular in Slot’s starting XI having started six of the opening seven games.
So potentially losing another influential member of the backline is the last thing which Slot will be wanting as he looks to plan for the long-term at Anfield.
