Fabrizio Romano says ‘many clubs around the world’ really like Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta became Arsenal’s boss in December 2019.

The Spaniard was asked to replace Unai Emery in a period where the Emirates was a toxic place to go to. The club was in serious trouble and in need of a saviour.

Arteta was a risky appointment as he had never worked as a manager before. However, Edu Gaspar convinced Stan and Josh Kroenke to make the appointment, and that has been the best decision Arsenal have made in years.

Now, Arteta is one of the best managers in world football. He has transformed Arsenal into an elite team again, and he deserves all the praise he gets.

Rumours have claimed that Barcelona want to appoint Arteta as their new manager this summer. Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that along with the Catalans, a number of clubs across the globe really like the Spaniard too

However, he is not expected to leave Arsenal anytime soon.

He said in his Daily Briefing: “The feeling around the future of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is very clear despite links with the Barcelona job. At the moment there are rumours, but no indication that Arteta is thinking about leaving Arsenal in the summer.

“Arteta is very happy at Arsenal, but also on the Barcelona side, they are aware of his situation. He is appreciated by many clubs around the world, but nothing is concrete in terms of contacts at this stage because Arteta is very happy at Arsenal.”

Arsenal need to extend Mikel Arteta’s contract

It’s clear to everyone that Mikel Arteta is up there with the best managers in the world, so it’s only a matter of time before a huge club comes calling.

Arsenal should be aware of this, which is why they have reportedly offered Arteta a brand-new contract.

The £158,000-a-week (GiveMeSport) Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and there is plenty of optimism that he will put pen to paper.

But, Arsenal can’t sit quietly and let him enter the final year of his contract. Stan and Josh Kroenke should fly to London and get this deal sorted as quickly as possible.
