According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have moved again into the South American market, this time to sign Dario Sarmiento.

The Estudiantes youngster is to join City in a deal worth upwards of £16m. It is believed City will pay around £5m now, with more coming in add ons and the form of a 20% sell-on clause, Romano says.

It is the second time City have moved in the market in recent weeks. They signed Brazilian youngster, Kayky, from Fluminese, and have now added the impressive Sarmiento to their books as well.

Predominantly someone who plays on the right-hand side of the attacking trio, Sarmiento arrives in Manchester with a big reputation. He is only 18, but has already made 21 appearances for Estudiantes, where he has impressed.

City, then, have wasted little time in adding another South American talent to their books. It seems the club are building for the future, and paying the money to stockpile the very best in young talent.

The club aren’t messing about this summer and Sarmiento and Kayky are two quietly statement sending signings.

Both are well regarded in South America and both clearly have a wealth of talent. Pep Guardiola is so close to leading City to Champions League glory but these sorts of signings suggest he’s already planning for the future.

Sarmiento will have to bid his time, but he couldn’t be moving to a better club and manager.
