Fabrizio Romano says Man United are already eyeing up striker signing this summer

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now been discussing the possibility of Manchester United adding a new striker in the coming summer.

Erik ten Hag now seems to have had a new vote of confidence from Sir Jim Ratcliffe that he can be the manager to drive United forward in this new era.

Moreover, with investment now expected in the summer, United are probably beginning to draw up a list of targets.

And despite the excellent season Rasmus Hojlund is enjoying, Ten Hag won’t be able to begin the next with the Dane as his only recognised striker.

Anthony Martial is expected to leave once his contract concludes, and Marcus Rashford has proven that he’s best out wide.

And with that being said, Fabrizio Romano has now been providing some context to United’s plans in the summer.

Speaking on ‘The Here We Go Podcast’, Romano said United will definitely be in the market for a striker, and discussed the possibility of Mathys Tel or Joshua Zirkzee arriving.

Fabrizio Romano says Man United haven’t begun talks for Bayern striker Mathys Tel

Although often linked, Romano said United are yet to begin any negotiations for Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel.

The journalist stopped short of saying a deal was off the table, but suggested United are yet to make a decision on the exact profile they desire.

Romano said: “In the summer Manchester United will be active in the strikers market but Rasmus Hojlund is doing fantastic.

“Rasmus Hojlund is 21, he’s very young, so Manchester United want to protect Hojlund and trust him and his potential.

“So before saying if they go for Mathys Tel, for Joshua Zirkzee, or an experienced striker, this is something they have still not decided.

“So striker, yes, but there is not a concrete negotiation now with Mathys Tel, with his agents, with Bayern, this is not happening right now because Man United still have to decide what kind of striker they want to bring.”

Of course, it is an interesting one to consider, and perhaps Hojlund has now proved he can handle the responsibility of being the United’s number nine, whilst a player acts as understudy.

All that being said, Wayne Rooney has now claimed that he played under a manager at United who was a better tactician than Sir Alex Ferguson.
