The Austrian superstar is on course to seal a ‘dream’ move to Real Madrid after apparently agreeing terms with the Spanish giants just this week.
But that has come after Liverpool were in the running for the Bayern star, with Romano claiming the Reds did indeed put forward a big offer to land Alaba. Per his Twitter account, the journalist posted the following update on Alaba yesterday.
David Alaba’s pre-contract with Real Madrid is ready since the beginning of January and it’s expected to be signed in the next weeks. His salary will be around €12m [after taxes] per season. #LFC made a top bid to sign him 2 weeks ago but… his dream is called Real Madrid. ⚪️

Alaba is world-renowned for being one of the top defensive players in world football. That was a point rammed home by Joshua Kimmich, who called the Austrian ‘outstanding’ as a left-back and one of the ‘best in the world’ at centre-back.
It’s little wonder, then, that Alaba has been in such high demand around Europe in the last few months.
TBR View: Madrid move always likely but nice to Liverpool involved here
January deals were always going to be hard for Liverpool to do but there’s no reason they can’t target summer moves, especially for players such as a Alaba on a free.
Madrid were always likely to pull ahead in this race just because of the finances involved. But Liverpool fans will be pleased to see the Reds at least getting involved here.
They’re still one of the world’s biggest clubs themselves, so don’t rule out a huge signing in the next six months.
