Fabrizio Romano has told his Here We Go podcast that Liverpool are readying an offer for midfielder Fabinho as a reward for his excellent form this season, and his ability to play in defence or midfield amid the clubs’ injury crisis at centre-back.
Fabinho, 27, has been a regular in Liverpool’s side this season when others have suffered numerous injuries. Despite being a holding midfielder, the 12-time Brazil international has performed superbly in defence, away from his natural position.
Apart from a brief hamstring strain earlier in the season and missing six of the last 10 Premier League outings through another injury – the ex-Monaco man has been ever-present. He is in with a shout to earn the club’s Player of the Season award.
Now, Liverpool are looking to reward Fabinho for his form – according to Italian transfer expert Romano. He claims that Klopp “is in love” with Fabinho and Liverpool want to offer the midfielder a new deal because they are “so happy with him”.

“Their priority looking at the transfer window will be extending contracts, as we say van Dijk is one of the topics, but Fabinho. Keep an eye on Fabinho because Liverpool are pushing,” Romano told his podcast.
“They want to make a proposal to Fabinho, they are so, so happy with him. Jurgen Klopp is in love with Fabinho, so they are working to extend his contract and Fabinho is happy at Liverpool.”
TBR’s view – Fabinho really deserves new Liverpool contract
He has been excellent. In terms of Liverpool players, who has eclipsed him this season? Even Alisson has made mistakes. Mo Salah’s goalscoring rate is excellent, but the Egyptian’s all-round play has been particularly poor.
Curtis Jones has been good, Jordan Henderson has filled in well in defence, Sadio Mane has worked hard and Diogo Jota – when he has not been injured – has been excellent. But no-one matches the consistency in two different positions. He deserves a deal.
