Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are in 'advanced talks' over new contract for Alisson Becker
Liverpool are close to finalising a new contract for superstar goalkeeper Alisson Becker, after sealing fresh terms with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Reports from today have confirmed that the Reds have handed a new deal to the right-back. The England man – who missed out on the Euros – gets his reward for a fine few years’ work at Anfield.
But it’s not a case of stopping there for Liverpool. Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that the club are now also nearing a new deal for Brazilian stopper, Alisson Becker.
Romano suggests that the Reds are in ‘advanced talks’ with the goalkeeper, who firmly remains Jurgen Klopp’s number one.
Alisson endured a tough season at times last term with a number of high profile mistakes. However, he finished the season well, and scored a dramatic goal at West Brom to cap his return to form.
The Reds have added Ibrahima Konate to the ranks this summer, while Gini Wijnaldum has left the club. Fringe players such as Harry Wilson have also been sold to bring funds into the club.
A must do deal for Liverpool
While Reds fans want new signings, tying down players like Alisson is of huge importance to the club. He really is that good, and remains one of the world’s very best.
Getting the likes of Trent and Alisson to commit to new deals is just as big as getting new faces in the door. They are the pillars of this Liverpool team and can be for years to come.
This is a smart move by the Reds, and ensures they’ve set for a while in key areas.
