Liverpool are having a busy end to the summer transfer window as they look to add the finishing touches to their squad.

The Reds finally got their first signing of the summer over the line this week, Giorgi Mamardashvili penning a deal at Anfield.

Although Mamardashvili won’t be linking up with Liverpool until next year, the Reds are now closing in on an exciting player who’s set to join this summer.

The player in question is Federico Chiesa, and everything seems to be on the right track, with Fabrizio Romano declaring “here we go” on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Romano also delivered his verdict on Chiesa as his move to Anfield looms, and it’ll be music to Liverpool fans’ ears.

Federico Chiesa ‘perfect’ for Liverpool

Romano, writing on CaughtOffside, explained why Chiesa is “the perfect fit” for Arne Slot’s side.

“For me, Chiesa would be a fantastic signing,” he said.

“He is the perfect fit for Liverpool, he’s fast, and he deserves to play in a team with offensive football like Liverpool as Juventus under Allegri were too defensive.”

Romano went on to say he wasn’t aware of any other active transfer leads on the Anfield front.

“In terms of other similar targets for Liverpool, I’m not aware of other players being considered at the moment,” he said. “My name for Liverpool is Federico Chiesa.”

Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

Federico Chiesa was being linked with a move to the Premier League for much of the summer.

With Juventus rendering him surplus to requirements, it was the perfect opportunity for a club to swoop in and sign a world-class player for a bargain price.

Liverpool moved first, and it didn’t take them long to strike a deal with Juve and reach an agreement with Chiesa.

The Reds will now have huge strength in depth up front and they’ll fancy their chances of going far in the Premier League title race as well as the cups.

Liverpool are also looking at other outgoings, with one of their top talents being pursued by Barcelona at present.
