Fabrizio Romano says Julian Nagelsmann has rejected Tottenham offer

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has opted to turn down a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer – and has instead chosen to join Bayern Munich.

Nagelsmann, 33, has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham – even before Jose Mourinho was sacked last week. Ryan Mason has since taken interim charge, beating Southampton but losing to Man City in the Carabao Cup.

The young German boss, who has already managed 136 games for Hoffenheim and 90 for Leipzig, is considered one of the best young managers in professional football. However, it is believed that he is a boyhood Bayern supporter.

One of the favourites for the Spurs job alongside Maurizio Sarri, Eddie Howe, Brendan Rodgers and even Mason – Nagelsmann is now set to end any chances of a move to North London. That is, if Romano’s Tweet rings true.

TBR’s view – Blow for Tottenham, but it was ambitious

Though Spurs proved their size by being included in the European Super League, a move to land second place-Leipzig’s boss above Bayern Munich was always going to prove too optimistic. It is interesting where Spurs go next.

Sarri would be underwhelming, Rodgers has confirmed he will remain at Leicester and Howe is probably not the required standard. Scott Parker at Fulham might be a decent addition, but time will tell if he wants to leave Fulham.
