Respected journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that Tottenham are yet to make a call on Gedson Fernandes, amid reports he could join Torino.
Tuttomercatoweb claimed yesterday that Fernandes could join Torino in a matter of hours. It is believed the midfielder is open to leaving Spurs for Benfica, before sealing another loan to the Italian side.
However, taking to his Twitter account yesterday evening, Romano states that nothing has been decided yet and it is likely the club will make a decision next week.
Torino have opened talks to sign Gedson Fernandes on loan. Tottenham are ready to let him come back to Benfica and then join Torino on loan until the end of the season. Final decision next week. 🇵🇹 #THFC #transfers

Gedson has been something of a peripheral player under Jose Mourinho and has failed to get going like many inside the Spurs camp hoped he would when he joined on a long-term loan deal.
The midfielder has had minimal opportunities, playing just twice all season in the FA Cup and EFL Cup respectively. Fernandes, then, is likely to be open to a move.
Furthermore, he could get the inside track on Torino, with current Spurs goalkeeper Joe Hart well aware of how the Italian club operates.
TBR View: This hasn’t worked, time to cut ties
Sometimes a transfer or loan just doesn’t work out and this is a classic case of that happening here with Gedson Fernandes.
For whatever reason, he’s just not got going and Spurs seem to have developed faster than he has. He’s still a talent, he probably just needs time and minutes to harness it somewhere else.
It’s best for all parties here if the midfielder goes back and looks elsewhere for football. Frankly, Spurs won’t exactly miss him.
