Fabrizio Romano says Everton are trying to sign winger who's 'on par with Neymar'
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on House Of Champions: A CBS Soccer Podcast that talks are ongoing between Everton and Rennes over a transfer this month.
Fabrizio Romano says Everton are trying to sign Kamaldeen Sulemana
Frank Lampard did an incredible job to keep Everton in the Premier League last season, but the Toffees just haven’t kicked on since.
They are 19th in the table at the moment, having won just three times – level on points with bottom-placed Southampton, who, ironically, have won a game more than the Merseysiders.
This cannot continue at Everton. If they don’t find a way to pick up points, they will get relegated, which would be a massive shame considering how big a club they are in the history of English football.
Lampard needs to change things around, and the January transfer window gives him the chance to bring in some much-needed reinforcements.
Rennes youngster Sulemana is a massive talent, and Romano has revealed that Everton are in talks to sign him on loan before the window shuts in less than two weeks’ time.
The journalist said: “It’s not easy for Everton because financially, they don’t have the power to go and sign important players for £40 million or £50 million.
“Also, many players are worried about the situation in the table. It’s normal to see a difficult market for Everton, but they’re trying.
“They are trying in many positions, for example, Kamaldeen Sulemana from Rennes, the Ghanaian winger is a player they really appreciate. They are in negotiations for a loan with buy option.”
Potential on par with Neymar
Sulemana is still only 20, but he has earned rave reviews in recent years.
The Ghanaian, who spent 18 months at Nordsjaelland before joining Rennes in the summer of 2021, has always been viewed as a phenomenal talent.
Nordsjaelland coach Flemming Pedersen once even made a comparison to Neymar, claiming that Sulemana’s potential is either on par or even higher than the Brazilian superstar.
He said, as quoted by Goal: “We are talking about a player with potential on par with Neymar, and maybe even more than that, because he is even faster.”
