Arsenal winger Marquinhos is reportedly set to leave the Emirates Stadium in the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners talent will be linking up with Fluminense “in the coming days”.

Romano, writing on X, has reported that Arsenal and Fluminense have agreed on an initial loan deal for Marquinhos, also relaying news of a buy option clause.

Romano added that a verbal pact is in place to be completed in the coming days. Marquinhos has already accepted and is now just waiting on the final formal steps.

According to Transfermarkt, the Brazilian transfer window is open for another four weeks.

Arsenal set to offload Marquinhos

And so, it looks like Marquinhos’ time at Arsenal is now coming to an end. If all goes well, then Fluminense will likely sign him permanently.

The 20-year-old joined the Gunners in 2022, and there were high hopes for him in wake of Gabriel Martinelli’s rise to prominence since his move from Brazil in 2019.

Marquinhos’ impressive Arsenal debut against FC Zurich in 2022 led to Martin Keown singing his praises.

“He’s got a huge future ahead of him,” he said on BT Sport (broadcast on 8/9/22; 19:39).

Since then, however, Marquinhos hasn’t really kicked on. Last year, he went out on loan to Norwich, but only made 11 appearances.

And last summer, Arsenal sent him out on loan to French club Nantes in the first half of the season, but again, things didn’t quite go to plan.

The 20-year-old made just seven appearances for the Ligue 1 club, for a meagre total of 150 minutes of competitive football.

Arsenal duly took the decision to cut short Marquinhos’ loan in Brittany and bring him back to the Emirates Stadium.

Now, it looks as though he’ll be on the move again, and it looks unlikely that he’ll play for Arsenal again.
