A rumoured Arsenal target is set to sign with a European club.

With the season just 16 days away, Arsenal are now starting to ramp up their summer business following the signing of Riccardo Calafiori.

Next on the agenda is thought to be a midfielder and an attacker, though, they now look set to miss out on one of their rumoured targets.

He’s due for a medical at a club on the continent.

PSG book Joao Neves medical

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Benfica teenager Joao Neves for much of the summer transfer window.

Though, they’re now set to miss out on his signature as French champions Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a £59m deal with the medical booked.

Arsenal close to signing Mikel Merino

Arsenal are thought to be closing in on the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino after weeks of speculation.

The Euro 2024 winner is set to cost The Gunners in excess of £25m, which for a player of his calibre, is great value.

Merino has just a year left on his deal, so Sociedad had to accept that he would depart for much less than his market value.

After the deal is complete, sporting director Edu Gaspar could move for a forward, though, it seems unlikely it’ll be Nico Williams – who seems to be staying put at Athletic Bilbao.
