Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Johan Bakayoko in recent months.
Speculation linking Spurs and the PSV Eindhoven winger goes back to last summer.
Even though nothing came of it, Tottenham are apparently still pursuing Bakayoko ahead of the January transfer window.
As per Sky Sports, Tottenham are up against the likes of Brentford in pursuit of the 20-year-old Belgium international.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to CaughtOffside with an update on Bakayoko which seemingly bodes well for Spurs.

The transfer insider was writing in wake of PSV’s Champions League draw with Tottenham’s local rivals, in which the reported Spurs target did well.
“It was an impressive performance from Johan Bakayoko against Arsenal last night and I’m not surprised, honestly, because he’s an elite talent,” Romano said.
“Brentford were more than close to signing him before Bakayoko rejected them to play Champions League football at PSV.
“I’m told Premier League clubs – not specific ones yet – are still monitoring Bakayoko, so this looks open.”
Tottenham target Johan Bakayoko liked to Bukayo Saka and Sadio Mane
Compared by some to Bukayo Saka, there is a lot of buzz about Bakayoko, who was seemingly going to end up costing at least £34million if he’d moved in the summer.
This season alone, he has an impressive 13 assists and four goals from 26 club appearances in all competitions.
There have been several scouting reports about the left-footer, which goes to show just what an exciting prospect he is.
For instance, Foot The Ball wrote back in April: “Bakayoko is a player with all the traits of a proper winger.
“However, the player has shown incredible maturity in adding other skills to his arsenal, including his fantastic deployment of the high press.
“The attacker spends considerable time behind the half-line helping his team out defensively. In fact, his skills and high work rate are pretty similar to a certain Sadio Mane.”
With the likes of Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic out on the sidelines, Tottenham could do with bringing in another left-footed attacker.
And Bakayoko looks a cut above in the Eredivisie, so Spurs should certainly think about making an approach in the January transfer window.
