Fabrizio Romano has said that Timo Werner is en-route to England to complete his medical ahead of a loan move to Tottenham.

The RB Leipzig striker has reached an agreement with the north London side to sign for Spurs for the remainder of the season, with the 27-year-old forward set to become Tottenham’s first signing this month.

With Tottenham also reportedly working on a deal to sign Genoa defender Radu Ragusin, Ange Postecoglou and his team have been hard at work this January trying to improve Spurs’ squad.

And now, according to Romano via Twitter, Tottenham are closing in on their first signing of the January window, with Werner set to complete his medical with Spurs very soon.

Whilst Werner’s last spell in the Premier League with Chelsea left little to be desired, things could be a lot different this time around with Tottenham.

Indeed, the two London clubs have very different styles of play, and Werner could benefit greatly from Postecoglou’s no-nonsense attacking football this season.

Werner to Tottenham is a transfer that has seemingly come out of nowhere, with the Germany international himself likely amazed with the speed this deal has come about.

Yet for all parties, it could be a fantastic piece of business, with Werner well-suited to what Postecoglou has done at Tottenham this season.

Moreover, after what happened last time at Chelsea, Werner will feel like he needs to prove a lot of doubters wrong, and the 27-year-old can do just that at Tottenham.
