Fabrizio Romano has told Last Word on Spurs that with Antonio Conte on board, Tottenham have a better chance to hand Harry Kane a new deal.
Kane, 28, has a contract until the summer of 2024 – a deal that lacks a release clause. The England skipper might want to include such a clause.
It comes after a summer of speculation surrounding the Spurs striker. The Spurs academy product has eventually remained at Tottenham.
There is no rush to get a deal done for Kane, but having remained – both parties might want a new contract. Spurs, to strengthen their assets.
For Kane, the gentleman’s agreement was clearly not enough to sell him – and including a release clause might help him actually secure a move.

“Since September, they have been maintaining a relationship with Kane and his camp. It is going to take time,” Romano stated.
“With Conte, it will be easier to show Kane the project and the winning mentality,” Romano added, to the Last Word on Spurs podcast.
Romano on Kane: Could Conte really convince Tottenham stay?
Without a doubt. That is, because Manchester City might not look at Kane next summer. Erling Haaland is available for a cheap-ish figure.
Not only that, but Dusan Vlahovic is on fire and shining for a side that are struggling to even challenge in Europe. There are other, cheaper options.
While Kane’s value might reduce from the £150million asking price last summer, he will still cost well over £100million.
Haaland is likely to be around £70million, as is Vlahovic. Manchester City will surely go after those forwards before Kane – purely for money.
