Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has made a claim about the Tottenham pursuit of manager Nuno Espirito Santo that should intrigue fans.
Nuno, who’s available after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial post at Spurs. BBC Sport claims that the 47-year-old is the “leading candidate” to take charge in north London.
However, speculation yesterday around the Portuguese boss saw Spurs fans have the hashtag #NoToNuno trending on Twitter.
Romano has given an intriguing detail though that could perhaps change their minds.
Spurs’ sporting director Fabio Paratici previously wanted to appoint Nuno at Juventus when he worked for the Italian giants.
Additionally, Paratici’s arrival at Spurs this summer has seen Nuno come into consideration by them.
Tottenham fans can warm to Nuno speculation given previous Paratici links
The managerial saga has been a whirlwind since Jose Mourinho left, so you can’t blame Spurs fans for getting wound up. Additionally, it won’t be a surprise if this isn’t the last of the rumours.
Ex-Juventus chief Paratici seems to have given the thumbs up though when it comes to Nuno.
Nuno did a great job during a four-year spell at Wolves, albeit the football wasn’t always scintillating.
He was a hugely popular figure at Molinuex Stadium that managed to bring everyone together to one close group, so perhaps he can surprise a few at Spurs.
